Lauren Gowans

Lauren Gowans is a warm and caring Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario and is in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She works with adults, children, teens, parents, and families, helping them feel safe, understood, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges.

Lauren is especially passionate about supporting individuals and families experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and major life changes or transitions. She takes a compassionate, client-centered approach, tailoring therapy to each person’s needs while honoring their own lived experiences and strengths.

Lauren holds a bachelor’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Carleton University and a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy from the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). Her work is informed by evidence-based and relational approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused and attachment-based therapies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed care, and somatic/mindfulness-based practices. These approaches support clients in understanding their emotions, building coping skills, and strengthening relationships in ways that feel meaningful.

Lauren believes therapy should feel like a welcoming and collaborative space. She brings empathy, curiosity, and a non-judgmental lens to her work, and values moving at a pace that feels right for each client. Her appreciation for creativity, movement, and balance, which is shaped by her love of baking, crafting, travel, and weightlifting outside of the therapy room, often informs her grounded and holistic perspective on well-being.

If this feels like the kind of support you, your child, or your family may be looking for, Lauren would be glad to connect and work toward growth together.
